The case with foliate cast S-form handle to the cushion-moulded top, pierced ebony frets to the glazed sides, and to the front door, the 6¾. x 8in. brass dial signed at the top Daniel Quare London within foliate engraving, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, matted centre with decorated mock pendulum and calendar aperture and ringed winding hole, winged cherub spandrels, the movement with thick brass plates secured with five robust ringed pillars, single wire fusee, rebuilt verge escapement with later Webster-type backcock, pull quarter repeat on two bells via a subsidiary spring mounted within a foliate engraved barrel casing on the back plate with further profuse foliate engraving and signed Dan Quare London within a foliate cartouche
