The case with gilt-brass baluster handle to the inverted bell top, breakarch glazed sides, moulded base on block feet, the gilt-brass dial signed Dan:Quare London on an oval reserve in the finely matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, silvered chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half and lozenge half-quarter markers, blued steel hour and minute hands, the arch set with a large diameter silvered calendar ring flanked by subsidiary rings for pendulum regulation and strike/silent, the dial plate engraved with doves and trailing foliage, female mask-and-foliate spandrels, the movement with thick brass rectangular plates with five front-pinned ringed pillars, twin chain fusees, the going with rebuilt verge escapement with pendulum spring-suspended from the rise-and-fall bar with cam adjustment, rack strike on a bell above the plates, the pull quarter repeat train now removed, the back plate signed Dan:Quare London 93 within a reserve flanked by foliate caryatides and birds within further tight foliate engraving with flowerheads and further birds

Miniature table clocks by Quare are exceedingly rare, as are those by contemporary clockmakers. One of Quare's best known miniature table clocks with miniature movement by Tompion is exhibited in the Student Clock Room in the British Museum (Ilbert bequest). Another, again with a movement by Tompion was sold in these rooms, The Vitale Collection of Highly Important European Clocks, Part II, 26 November, 1996, lot 245.
