Roger Vandercruse, called R. Lacroix or R.V.L.C., 1728-1799, received maître 1755.
A table by RVLC of the same model but with slightly differing trellis-patern inlay and lacking the flowerhead mounts on the legs was sold from the Ren/ae Fribourg Collection, VII, part II, Sotheby's London, 17-18 October 1963, lot 788. A number of other related tables are known:- one, by Claude-Charles Saunier from the ch/cateau de Bellevue mounted, with a S/gevres plaque, was sold in the Wildenstein/Ojjeh sale, Sotheby's Monaco, 25-26 June 1979, lot 171: another by Martin Carlin with a pietra dura plaque and more lavish mounts was sold from the Dodge Collection in these Rooms, 24 June 1971, lot 122.
This pattern of dot-trellis parquetry is also seen on tables en chiffoni/gere by Martin Carlin, such as that with a S/gevres porcelain top with date letter for 1782 sold in these Rooms, 9 June 1994, lot 67.
