Lot Essay

Cox exhibited another view of Stirling Castle at the O.W.S. in 1838 as no. 345, entitled Cavalry on the march, sold in these Rooms, 1 March 1977, lot 166. In this version the soldiers are more prominent and closer to the viewer.
