(Minor marginal dampstaining at beginning and end, g1 with short marginal tear.) Contemporary Italian blind-tooled dark brown goatskin over paste boards, flat spine with three raised bands, edges stained green and with gauffered borders, evidence of 2 pairs of ties, title lettered on upper edge (foot of spine and lower corners expertly repaired); cloth folding case. Provenance: Scipio Vulparius (early ownership inscription on flyleaf and inscription on colophon page Sola salus servire Deo sunt caetera frandes); Helmut N. Friedlaender (bookplate; sold Christie's New York, 24 April 2001, lot 26).
