FIRST EDITION. Most of this work concerns the history of Louisiana. "The author lists 145 tribes from the St. Lawrence River to the Gulf of Mexico. He briefly describes seventeen tribes living along the Mississippi, the Arkansas, and the Red rivers, providing vocabularies of Naoudoouessis (Sioux) and Chipouais (Chippewa)" (Wagner-Camp).
