An interesting survival, being an uncut and unopened folded proof broadsheet of Mitchell's Edinburgh edition of Franklin's famous rebus. Gottlieb writes that the work expresses "Benjamin Franklin's well-known philosophy of thrift and honest toil" (Gottlieb, Early Children's Books and Their Illustration, 191). Dayton, Harvey and Darton had published an edition in London in 1817.
