Larmore, Kennett Square, Pa., 11 April 1957. 1 page, 4to.. "THE HOTTEST PLACES IN HELL" Larmore's thoughtful letter praised Senator Kennedy's Profiles in Courage, and observed that "I am sorry to see some...who are so tolerant they have no convictions and others who avoid issues for the purposes of winning friends and promoting their own welfare." Kennedy, who three years later would demonstrate commendable firmness and fortitude in his handling of the Cuban missle crisis, instructs a secretary to respond to Larmore: "Thank him for interesting letter. In reading it I was reminded of Dante's words 'The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in a period of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.'" With a typed transcript on Senate stationery, 1 page, 8vo.
