Lot Essay

Soon after his move from Katwijk to the village of Naarden, Sluiter was often seen in Hotel Hamdorff, the cultural center for the local artists. With the help of the inspiring owner of the hotel, Jan Hamdorff, summerexhibitions were organised from 1913 till 1921. Sluiter designed the posters and the catalogues for these highly successful events. The present lot is a design for the poster of 1917.
