Further details
The inscription Kayosodo suggests that this cross once belonged to Kayahsota, a Seneca chief and diplomat who lived c. 1725-1794. "His name, spelled Kayahsota? according to Wallace L. Chafe's phonemic orthography of modern Seneca, means it stands up (or sets up) the cross," (Abler 1979).

For a similar example, see Frederickson and Gibbs 1980, p. 141.
