A BLACK BELLIED PLOVER
Charles "Shang" Wheeler, Stratford, Connecticut, second quarter 20th century
With Mackey Collection stamp on underside. Wheeler apparently made only one group of these shorebirds
Good original paint; there is substantial chipping to bare wood on right side of body and top of head; there is some wear at wing tips and bill has been broken off and reattached with a very small chip missing
