A UNIQUE PAIR OF DOWITCHERS
Charles "Shang" Wheeler, Stratford, Connecticut
Decoratives, in spring and fall plumage, with metal legs; in naturalistic setting of sand and simulated marsh grasses.
These birds were made circa 1940 and were shown at the National Sportsmans Show in New York City in 1949; nine such pairs are illustrated in Shang by Dixon MacD Merkt, p. 28, pl. 21
One bird has break at wing tip and several blades of grass have lost their ends
