Second half 18th century
Of oval form with short pedestal foot, molded with a vine border issuing large blue and gilt fruit sprigs, iron-red and gilt blossoms in between, the knop a flower sprig and another painted inside
6 5/8in. (16.8cm.) wide

Lot Essay

This unusual form, after a Derby porcelain model, was probably intended for sauces served with berries. A pair in blue and white were in the McCone collection, sold Sotheby's New York, 31 January 1992. A single in famille rose from the Mottahedeh collection was sold Sotheby's New York, 19 October 2000
