Circa 1710
A gilt and sepia pine tree roundel in the center contained within a wide cobalt blue ground border of scrolling vine with Japanese style panels of flowering plants growing in pots, a Buddhist lion and three cranes
18 5/8in. (47.2cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

This dish seems to have been originally intended as part of a set made in this pattern for the Corbel or Corbet family of France, whose arms showed three crows (corbeau). Visible under the central gilt roundel here is the underglaze blue portion of the Corbel coat.
