The front with a large coat-of-arms of Lascelles impaling Whetstone above a shaded pink banner, the sides richly enamelled with large pink roses on long stems bearing multiple leaves in shades of green

Lot Essay

Made for Henry Lascelles, a director of the British East India Co., who married Janet Whetstone of Barbados in 1731. His eldest son was created Baron Harewood and his nephew the first Earl of Harewood. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., p. 295
