See Oliver, p. 45, fig. 53. This group is sometimes found on a table base, titled 'The Engagement' or 'The Perswaition'. Possibly depicted here are the lovers from Jane Austen's novel, 'The Persuasion', published in 1818. Her lovers, Anne Elliot and Captain Frederick Wentworth, elope. After a long separation and deep misunderstandings they are reunited in marital bliss.
