In the center the eagle is supported on a lotus bud and crowned with a floral sceptre-head motif, the well with diaper pattern and the rim filled with fruiting and flowering sprays

Lot Essay

Almost certainly the double-headed eagle, a motif foreign to the Chinese, is intended here as an armorial device, quite likely for the Spanish or Mexican market
