Each with the arms of Hale impaling Dissert in colors within gilt shell and scroll border, the salts' octagonal sides with sprays of dianthus, peony, camellia and daisy in grisaille, iron-red and gilt, the bowl with famille rose peony branches on each side

D.S. Howard (op. cit., p. 367) reports that John Hale wrote a will leaving to his niece, Mary, "my china stampt with my arms and those of my wife Jane"
