Peter Rouss commissioned four great commuter yachts. Winchester III built by Yarrow in England was the fastest of the four at 36 mph and was once owned by the Guggenheim family. Winchester IV, built by Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine, was Peter Winchester's favorite. She was used in both World War I and II. She gave thirty years of service to Rouss and was later owned by both Vincent Astor and Cornelius Vanderbilt III, who died on board in 1942
