Lot Essay

Mélingue studied under Odelli and Bochard, exhibiting at the Salon between 1852 and 1855,when he won a third class medal. His speciality were busts and statuettes of actors and playwrights, he being an actor of some repute himself. His works can be seen in the museums of Caen, Le Havre and Rouen.
