A Tibetan gilt copper embellished figure of Tara
16th/17th century
seated with feet crossed before her on a double lotus base with tightly beaded borders, her right hand in varadamudra, the left in vitarka mudra flanked by a lotus stem, wearing a short dhoti and pendent jewels inset with turquoise, her face in a serene expression with inlaid turquoise urna surmounted by an elaborate jewelled headdress -- 5 1/8in. (13cm.) high (inlay with losses).
