A large Japanese ivory snuff bottle
19th Century
of slightly tapering rectangular shape, incised to one side with two birds amongst flowering branches and rockwork, the reverse with a similar scene with five smaller birds, the background stained brown, the shoulder stained red, matching stopper, incised Qianlong four character mark to the base -- 4 1/8in. (10.5cm.) high, (minor wear).
