Born in Cairo, Egypt in 1912 Dora Khayatt and her husband John Plant settled in the United States in 1957. She was accorded the honour of One-Man shows at the Redfern Gallery (1950 and 1952), Gallerie Durand-Ruel, Paris (1956) and the Wildenstein Gallery, New York City (1961). The Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama mounted a major exhibition of her work in 1973.
