Lot Essay

The applied flat panels to the cupboard doors indicate its probable origin to mid North Wales, possibly the Conway Valley, where both dressers and clock case doors are made in a similar way. The corner fan motifs appear in both Irish and some Welsh furniture during the 19th century as part of the Celtic vocabulary of decorative elements.
