A Northern French tobacco-jar and a brass cover
Circa 1790, perhaps Lille, the cover probably later
Of ribbed cylindrical form with hound mask handles, the front inscribed TABAC D'HOLLANDE flanked by two figures smoking pipes and holding a club on a grassy mound with stylised flowers above (area broken from rim at back and restored, flaking to rims and handles)
Approximately 18½ in. (47 cm.) high overall
