A Meissen chinoiserie coffee-cup and saucer Circa 1740, blue crossed swords marks, gilder's 71. to both, Pressnummer 2 to saucer
The cup with a double-scroll handle and gilt foliage thumbpiece, painted by C.F. Herold with a continuous terrace with Orientals at various pursuits among flowering shrubs, a table and a fence, insects in flight above, above a double iron-red line border, the interior with a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the saucer with two Orientals flanked by flowering shrubs within an iron-red double concentric circle cartouche and similar gilt border, gilt line rims and gilt band footrims (saucer with area of slight wear)
