A Meissen bullet-shaped teapot and cover
Circa 1735-40, blue crossed swords mark, gilder's 53. to both
The wishbone handle with gilt foliage thumbpiece and puce interlocking scrolls, the richly gilt spout moulded with scrolls, each side of the body painted with river-landscapes, one with boating figures before a tall partially fortified building, the other with boating figures before fortified towers, each within quatrefoil gilt cartouches edged with scrolls, puce diaper panels and Laub-und-Bandelwerk below a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border at the rim, the shallow domed cover with two vignettes of merchants flanking the gilt cone finial within a double red concentric circle cartouche and gilt band rim (two minute chips to spout, minute areas of wear to gilding)
