Lot Essay

Probably the body of a snuff-box, a very similar example with a cover is illustrated by Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Boîtes en Porcelaine, des Manufactures Européennes au 18e siècle (Fribourg, 1985), p. 385, no. 316, where she attributes the box to Schrezheim on the basis of the painting on the interior of the cover.
