A Berlin (KPM) gold-ground botanical vase
1834, underglaze blue sceptre mark, stencilled brown eagle KPM mark, puce enamel circle and arrow mark, edge of footrim incised 4.11.34
Of urn shape, the top of the interior and the stepped upper rim richly gilt, the waisted white neck with a broad band of gilt scrolling foliage above a gilt ciselé plaited band at the shoulder, the ground of the body reserved with two large swags of flowers including passion-flowers, roses, morning-glory, stocks and forget-me-nots suspended from two bands of ciselé ropetwist and ovolo ornament at the shoulder, the waisted circular foot edged with down-turned stiff-leaf ornament, on a square plinth base edged with panels of ciselé guilloche ornament (minute chip to shoulder, areas of minute wear to gilding)
