Together 4 volumes. Uniformly bound in modern red half morocco. ALL FIRST EDITIONS. Gottignies was born in Brussels but spent most of his life in Rome. One of the more interesting aspects of his work is the Logistica method, intended to rival Descartes's algebra. Gottignies objected to Descartes's use of negative numbers. His books on the topic show a great interest in didactics. Poggendorff I:931. (4)
