Details
FROM THE CELLARS OF THE ROYAL TOKAJI WINE COMPANY
Tokaji is surely - or was until recently - the least known of all the greatest traditional European vineyards. Yet it was much esteemed and sought after, particularly with the royalty and aristocracy of Russia and Poland until the First World War destroyed these markets. Tokaji or Tokay can claim to be the first major vineyard area to be classified (in 1700) and to have taken advantage of the beneficial effect of Botrytis a full Century before the Germans, in the mid 1700, accidently discovered it.
