Surmounted by a putto holding a flower garland, seated on a winged globe timepiece, on clouds, above the bombé spreading upper-structure, divided into ten compartments, each with a gilt-tooled leather cap and a foliate handle, above two cupboard doors, the inside fitted with one adjustable shelf, on four scroll feet; the carcass stamped H. NELSON

Lot Essay

Nelson established his business at 46, rue de la Madelaine in 1856. His son Henri relocated the shop to 79, boulevard Haussmann, 2, rue Tronson-du-Coudray, and finally to 27, rue Pasquier in 1870. The business continues to this day.
