A Pair of George IV Silver Sauce Tureens, Covers and Liners
Mark of Robert Garrard, London, 1828
each oval section bombé tureen supported on four shell and leaf capped scroll feet, with similar handles, engraved with a coat-of-arms and motto, the conforming covers with loop handles, engraved with a crest, with a detachable silver liner - 25cm. (9¾in.) long, 87oz.
The arms are those of Montagu-Douglas-Scott for Walter Francis, 5th Duke of Buccleuch and 7th Duke of Queensbery, who married Charlotte Thynne, daughter of 2nd Marquess of Bath in 1829.
