Lot Essay

Cf. Grazia Biscontini Ugolini, Ceramiche Pesaresi dal XVIII al XX secolo (Bologna, 1986), p. 121, pl. 105 for a jug with the same inscription and by a similar hand.

This verse translates loosely as 'the lover of wine is badly dressed, you can become something else, but do not become a lover of wine'.
