Circa 1740, blue crossed swords mark, puce and gilt HM monogram, Pressnummer 16
Painted with a phoenix in flight above flowering shrubs issuing from pierced blue rockwork beside banded hedges, the borders with three trailing flowering branches, shaped brown line rims

Lot Essay

Other pieces from the service bearing this monogram have appeared on the market at various times. It is thought that the monogram may be that of the Moebius family of Hartha in Germany. See lots 88 and 89, sale in our King Street Rooms, 24 February 2003.
