A large unfinished needlework picture, finely worked in coloured silks, purl, beads, seed pearls and coral with a central vinette possibly depicting Charity with three infants or the Virgin Mary, infant Jesus, John the Evangelist and Mary Magdalene, the outer field worked to the left with David holding Goliath's severed head, to the right with Judith holding Holofernes' head and the remaining field with an assortment of motifs, including a sun, rainbow, castle, fountain, stag, lion, peacock, fabulous monster and various flowers and creatures--19¾ x 24¾in.
