Lot 544 level: bottom neck; bin soiled label. capsule cut to reveal vintage branded cork and re-corked in 1974. Lot 545 level: very top shoulder. Lot 546-547 level: top shoulder. Lot 548 level: upper/top shoulder, cork states "rebouché 1966". Lot 549 level: upper/mid shoulder; bin soiled label. Superlative. Softer and more amenable than the '28. Sixteen notes, almost all 5 stars, dating from December 1955. Always deeply coloured, its bouquet variously described - mainly inadequately - as rich but restrained old cedar, spicy (eucalyptus once again, cloves and sage), 'medicinal' Pauillac and so forth...More recently a perfect magnum in a 'flight' of Latours at a Rodenstock weekend.
