Lot Essay

The various faces represent the different aspects of the deity, the ferocious Bhairava (south), Nandin with a lion crown (west), Tamreshvara with floral and serpent earrings (north), Mahadeva with matted hairstyle (east). The fifth, representing the absolute, is generally not shown.
