Lot Essay

This figure is very closely related to Pala dynasty prototypes from Kurkihar, but the treatment of the jewelry and modeling of the torso support an attribution to Thailand during the Srivijayan Kingdom; cf. a Kurkihar figure of Akshobya in U. von Schroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, 1981, cat. no. 64.
