A Rare Gilt Bronze Figure of Garuda
Nepal, 14th/15th Century
Expressively cast standing on a lotus base with beaded rim, holding a flaming jewel in his raised right hand and a lotus blossom in the pendent left hand, his short dhoti secured with a sash inset with rubies, whorls of hair incised at the chest, his head raised in an animated expression, framed by the stylized scrollwork wings
