DU FOUILLOUX, Jacques (1521-1580). La Vénerie. - Pierre HARMONT, called Mercure, Le Miroir de Favconnerie. Paris: Pierre Billaine, 1635-1634.
2 parts in one volume, 4° (230 x 168mm). Title in red and black with woodcut vignette, 65 woodcut illustrations, musical notation. (Title somewhat soiled and creased and with small repaired holes at margins, dedication leaf repaired at head, also slightly soiled and creased, small repairs to A3, B3 and a few other leaves, N1 and S4 affected by paper fault at lower margin, C4 and D1 of second part creased at lower corners, without final [?]blank.) Early 20th-century calf-backed mottled boards, red-speckled edges.
First published c. 1560, Du Fouilloux's Vénerie remained a popular hunting manual over the next hundred years, and was frequently reprinted. Pierre Harmont's Le miroir de Favconnerie which has been added to this edition, had first appeared in 1620. Cf. Schwerdt I, p. 153.
