Lot Essay

Minegishi's kiln is in Nasucho, Nasu County, Tochigi Prefecture. The double and triple crackle layers (kannyu) in the celadon glaze form when firing and subsequent cooling shrink the glaze more than the clay. Incense burners by Minegishi, similarly decorated, were sold in these Rooms, 15 October 2001, lot 118 and 22 March 2002, lot 178.
