Lot Essay

This talented woman painter was born in Osaka. She went to Tokyo to study under the Japanese-style bijinga painter, Ikeda Shoen (1886-1917). In 1915, Chigusa returned to Osaka to study under Kitano Tsunetomi (1880-1947). She later established her own painting association there.
