A RARE HUANGHUALI CORNER-LEG COFFER, LIANERCHU
17th century
The deep paneled top enclosed in a wide rectangular frame with baitong ruyi-shaped corner mounts, above two sliding drawers with rectangular baitong plates and shaped pulls, and a wide panel concealing a hidden compartment, above a plain apron with wide beading continuing to form short spandrels and geometric scrolls, supported on carved legs of square section ending in neat hoof feet
