AN UNUSUAL RUSSET-STREAKED BLACK-GLAZED BOWL
Song/Jin dynasty, 12th-13th century
Of Cizhou type, the thickly potted, flared body covered inside and out with a blackish-brown glaze decorated with five russet streaks that taper from the thick outward rolled rim towards the center of the interior to form an abstract five-petalled flower, the glaze on the exterior falling irregularly to the knife-cut foot ring exposing the pale grey ware
