Lot Essay

Compare the very similar bowl from the collection of J. C. Thomson included in the O.C.S. exhibition, The Arts of the Sung Dynasty, London, 16 June-23 July 1960, pl. 75, no. 216. See, also, the slightly deeper Qingbai bowl carved with the same design, illustrated in Mayuyama, Seventy Years, Tokyo, 1976, vol. 1, no. 430.
