An Unusual Turquoise-Glazed Slip-Decorated Shallow Bowl
18th century
The rounded sides of the compressed body flaring at the rim and slip- decorated with a band of four lotus blossoms flanked by pairs of foliate birds, their tails conjoined to a bat suspending a chime, with a band of narrow petal tips below and a ruyi band above, covered overall with a rich turquoise glaze appearing almost white where it thins on the raised decoration and continuing over the flat base with countersunk center, the mouth rim gilded
