The above cap represents two International appearances made by Doherty in season 1935-36, in the the first match against England played on 19th October 1935, at Windsor Park, England defeated Northern Ireland 3-1, in the second match against Scotland, played on 13th November 1935 in Edinburgh, Scotland defeated Northern Ireland 2-1
