FOUR TALAVERA TIN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE DISHES AND BOWLS,
circa 1790,
Including a pair of large shell-shaped basins painted with stylized flowers and garlands, 14in. (35.4cm.) wide, and a pair of deep bowls, each basin with the arms of the Yuste Monastery above the motto Plus Ultra, the interior rim and exterior of the bowl in blue and ochre with rich foliate scrolls and bell flowers, 12¾in. (32.4cm.) diam.; together with two Talavera blue and white gadrooned dishes painted with a bull fighting vignette above an identifying phrase and the monogram CAP, inscribed 1790, 13 3/8in. (34cm.) diam; and a pair of Talavera chargers, dated 1849 and painted by Castallawith bulls below the monogram CAP, squiggles along the rim, 15½in. (39.4cm.)diam. (8)
