Lot Essay

A Celadon and Astree series is mentioned in a document of 18 January 1658 as belonging to the Antwerp merchants Frans de Moor and Claude Reverend. However, that set is annotated as being old at the time, so it may refer to a 16th century series (E. Duverger, Jan, Jacques en Frans de Moor, Tapijtwevers en Tapijthandelaars te Oudenaarde, Antwerpen en Gent (1560 tot ca. 1680), Gent, 1960, p. 160).
